The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which insures bank deposits since 1933, including certificate of deposit accounts and savings accounts will be broke by this week if additional funds are not provided.

The insurance fund that has been depleted by 95 bank failures this year will be replenished by insured institutions by having them prepay their estimated “quarterly risk-based assessments” for the fourth quarter of 2009 and for all of 2010, 2011 and 2012. In short, banks are prepaying their insurance fees until the end of 2012.

The FDIC estimates that the total prepaid assessments collected would be approximately $45 billion which will be enough to replenish the insurance fund.

How about future bank failures? If the FDIC collects the next three year’s of assessments now what will it do for money in the future? The ec

Do you recall when shopping on the internet was terrifying and more often than not a really sketchy thing to do? I do. But currently, shopping for just about everything on the internet has grown to be not only adequate and protected but (for the most part) a great deal less pricey than shopping for items in establishments.

I?ll give a decent case in point for clothing buys. I stopped into a retailer, that I normally shop at on the internet, but was with a pal of mine at a shopping mall, and saw a pair of blue denims that I had to possess. Well, as a substitute of purchasing them on site, I went to the store?s site on my cell phone, only to find out the pants were reduced on the site and were only 2/3 of the cost the store wanted. I was shocked.

This kind of thing happens continually. You don?t have to be at a store in the mall to become aware of price dissimilarity between a retailer and its website. Read more…

Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Money, part of his Virgin Group intends provide robust competition to the Big Four banking groups in Australia, and is launching a car insurance product followed swiftly by deposits and lending facilities in the coming months.

On Wednesday, Branson launched Virgin Car Insurance in Sydney, and sent a message to incumbents, telling consumers his company could offer Australians car insurance at rates which were 30 to 40 per cent cheaper than their current providers.

“We have a team in Australia who look for businesses where consumers are being taken for a ride. The challenge is to get people to compare, but we have a strong brand and we’ve done this before.” Sir Richard said.

Last week Virgin Money inked a deal with Citibank to use their balance sheet and platform for provision of banking services such as deposit taking and lending. Sir Ric

This is the ninth of sixteen parts of a “book club” reading and discussion of Keith Ferrazzi and Tahl Raz’s Never Eat Alone, where this book on building a lifelong community of colleagues, contacts, friends, and mentors is teased apart and looked at in detail. This entry covers the seventeenth and eighteenth chapters, “The Art of Small Talk” and “Health, Wealth, and Children,” which appear on pages 143 through 170.

I’m terrible at small talk.

Those little slivers of time right after you meet someone but before a real conversation starts is almost painful to me. I never know what to say and I usually just hope that it doesn’t last too long.

What I’ve come to do is to rely on a handful of standard icebreakers that tend to fill the gap quite well and often lead into some real conversation (which I actually enjoy). They’re just silly

While the UK press would appear to have forgotten about the issue of swine flu, after a reduction in new cases in the summer, there are signs that the virus is back again and could cause massive problems over the winter time. Many people forget that traditional influenza is more commonplace in the winter period, something which will be reflected in the ever increasing number of swine flu cases.

While there have been many doomsday scenarios regarding swine flu and its impact on the UK economy, there is no doubt that more and more new cases will impact upon the ability of businesses to function and consumers to move around freely in certain areas. Read more…

Over the past ten years the rate of obesity in children and teenagers has increased at a rapid pace. This is down to the fact that children do not have a healthy lifestyle and do not do enough outdoor sports. Children are spending even more time indoors watching television and playing video games, they are also eating a lot more junk food that does not help their health.

Helping your children to weight loss does not have to be a difficult procedure and can be done in a very simple way. Try not to put your child on a strict diet as there is a possibility that the child will rebel to this type of treatment. To help your child loose weight you do not have to spend your time calculating the intake of calories, fats and carbohydrates, it is as simple as giving your child the nutrients that he or she needs.

To help your child to eat healthy food it is advisable that you do the same.

You certainly would not be alone if you were to admit getting lost in the car with a partner not helping by giving out all the wrong directions. It is a very stressful thing and something that can cause huge arguments within the car which do not help both the situation and any kids that are sitting in the back wondering what is happening.

There is however a solution to this and that is to get a Sat Nav.They are basically a GPS system in your car that uses the Global Positioning Satellite what orbits the earth. It locks onto the Sat Nav receiver in the certain unit and calculates longitude, latitude as well as altitude which can be very useful. It is then laid over a standard road map which reveals the drivers placement. It can also work out the quickest route between two points which is going to save you on a lot of gas indeed.
